Floating Pagodas

Floating Pagodas

The Floating Pagodas - officially known as Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Phrachomklao Rachanusorn - are one of the most spectacular sights around Chiang Mai. Perched high up on the rugged peaks of Doi Phra Bat in Lampang province, the white and golden stupas seem to float weightlessly above the clouds. From the parking lot, a shared cab will take you a little way up the mountain before the actual ascent begins: around 540 well-built but steep steps lead you...
Khao Rang Viewpoint

Khao Rang Viewpoint

Khao Rang Viewpoint is located in the south of Phuket, directly opposite Monkey Hill. You might encounter a few monkeys during your visit - but they won't do anything unless you deliberately provoke them or hold out food (tip: watch out for your sunglasses and water bottles too). The viewpoint is particularly popular at sunset and offers a great view of Phuket Town and the Great Buddha. We have already been here twice and were able to...

Black Rock Viewpoint

Black Rock Viewpoint

The Black Rock Viewpoint is a beautiful vantage point in the south of Phuket, which you reach after a short jungle hike. Important: Don't let anyone talk you into anything on the way there! Many Thais will tell you that you have to book a tour, need a shuttle or something similar - we simply drove on by scooter and parked for free at the restaurant. From there, it's a walk over gravel and then on through dense jungle. At the top...
Windmill Viewpoint

Windmill Viewpoint

The Windmill Viewpoint is a breezy viewpoint in the south of Phuket and offers you a great view of the surrounding beaches of Yanui and Nai Harn Beach. Buy yourself a delicious fruit smoothie and simply enjoy the view with a fresh sea breeze. You can reach the viewpoint either by scooter or car. Even though the viewpoint doesn't have much to offer on site, we still think it should be on every Phuket bucket list. The landscape...
Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail

Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail

The Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail offers one of the most beautiful hikes in northern Thailand and runs along the highest mountain in the country: Doi Inthanon (2,565 m). The view of the famous twin pagodas, which were built in honor of the Thai royal couple, is particularly impressive. The trail leads through mist-shrouded mountain forest, past moss-covered trees and spectacular viewpoints with views over the lush green highlands. Early in the morning, there is often still fog over the valley, which...
Grand Pagoda Twin Pagodas

Grand Pagoda Twin Pagodas

The twin pagodas Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon & Grand Pagoda Nabhapolbhumisiri are among the most famous sights in Doi Inthanon National Park. The two magnificent stupas were built in honor of the Thai royal couple King Rama IX and Queen Sirikit and are enthroned on one of the highest points in the entire country. They are surrounded by a fascinating mountain landscape and colorful, elaborate flower gardens that bloom all year round. In the early hours of the morning, when the fog spreads over the mountains...
Large Buddha

Big Buddha of Phuket

The Big Buddha of Phuket, also known as the "Big Buddha", is a huge white marble statue that you can see from afar from many places on Phuket. With a height of 45 meters and a diameter of 25 meters, the Big Buddha is the island's landmark and offers you a fantastic panoramic view of the south side of Phuket, the sea and the surrounding islands. We recommend arriving by scooter or on a guided day tour. Entrance fee and...
Pa Pong Piang rice terraces

Pa Pong Piang rice terraces

The Pa Pong Piang rice terraces are located in Doi Inthanon National Park and are one of the most impressive photo spots around Chiang Mai. Rice terraces that nestle against the mountain slopes like waves await you here. The view of the surrounding mountain landscape is particularly beautiful during the rainy season from June to October. It is easy to walk through the small village, but as the rice terraces are privately owned, you should not enter the fields without permission. If you want to arrive relaxed,...

Hide on High Bar

The "Hide on High" bar is a hidden gem in Than Sadet National Park in the east of Koh Phangan. Once at the top, you meet a friendly Thai man who lives on the upper floor of the bar and prepares delicious cocktails and snicker smoothies for you. Entry is free, but out of courtesy you should at least order a drink...
