Ao Nang (Beach)
Ao Nang is one of the most popular seaside resorts in the whole of Thailand! Geographically, it is located in the province of Krabi, east of the Andaman Sea. Once known as a small fishing village that lived mainly from local fishing, it became increasingly characterized by tourism from the 1970s onwards. When the first resorts were built, Ao Nang developed into a Top vacation destination in southern Thailand and remains a popular choice for travelers.
Thailand fans particularly appreciate the location: thanks to the extensive beach, that calm sea and the Proximity to islands like Koh Phi Phi and Koh Hong, Ao Nang is a popular starting point for a relaxing package vacation. The nearest airport is located in Krabi City, which, however, cannot be approached directly internationally, but usually with a stopover in Bangkok or Phuket.
Every year, Ao Nang attracts several One hundred thousand visitors both international travelers and locals. The three kilometer long beach is famous for its lively promenade, numerous accommodations in various price categories, a high level of leisure activities, evening entertainment, yoga classes, Thai massages, local markets, water sports such as jet skiing or diving excursions, bars, restaurants, local stores, supermarkets, souvenirs and much more. On the beach there are Public toilets and showers as well as sun loungers and parasols, which are available for a daily fee. You can also take a longtail boat for a Excursion to the surrounding islands (you can simply negotiate the price on site).

Another highlight is the Monkey Trail, the Ao Nang Beach with the neighboring Pai Plong Beach connects. This is the private beach of the „Centara Grand Beach Resorts„, which is usually only accessible to guests. When we reached the beach, however, we were able to take a few photos before we had to turn back. For a short Walk the trail is really interesting, as the wooden path leads along the sea through the green nature and may give you some Monkeys could meet on the way - hence the name. 🙂
Tip:: If you are in Ao Nang, you should definitely take a trip to Railay (Rai Leh) to include in your plans. The peninsula has become increasingly popular over the years as it only accessible by boat and offers beautiful white sandy beaches, adventurous caves, lagoons and pure nature. There are only a few accommodations and car-free zones on site, which gives this region a special charm lends.
