Emerald Pool & Blue Pool
Hidden somewhere in the east of Krabi is the famous Emerald Pool (known locally as Sa Morakot). This impressive natural pool is part of the nature reserve Khao Phra Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary. From Krabi City you reach the dreamlike oasis in about one hour travel time. From Ao Nang it takes around one and a half hours. On arrival, you will find a large parking lot and a few places to eat and store for souvenirs. The parking fee is 20 Baht per vehicle and the Admission 400 Baht per person.
The path to the Emerald Pool leads approximately 800 meters on foot over wooden paths through dense jungle and on several Fish ponds over. Typical Thai, sometimes loud Animal sounds make the atmosphere a magical experience for visitors. When you arrive at the natural pool, you are first greeted by a small flowing stream. The turquoise blue water in the Emerald Pool comes from underground hot springs and is filtered through limestone and minerals on the way up, which is why it appears so clear and emerald green.
The pool itself is rather small, but still the ideal place to cool off on hot summer days. With a Diameter of 20 meters and one Depth of approx. 1 to 2 meters you can cross the pool quickly. In the water you can Fish and small Freshwater snails hanging from the limestone walls. Tip: Bring bathing shoes, because the rocks in the water and around the pool are very slippery are!
On site there are Free toilets and showers, so that you can freshen up again after bathing. If you fancy a swim in these temperatures Ice cream or other snacks can be found in a small kiosk on the grounds. For lunch or dinner, we recommend one of the Restaurants, which are located at the exit on the main road (on the way back to the parking lot).

Excursion to the Blue Pool
If you have a little time, you can make a stop at the Blue Pool should be included in your plans. This small pond is truly unique in its appearance and is located just a few hundred meters from the Emerald Pool. A round 15-minute walk leads you along another path along swampy areas, past mangrove bushes and through a mystical forest until you finally reach a deep blue shimmering place: the beautiful Blue Pool! The forest in which the Blue Pool is hidden is just as interesting and impresses with meter-high Vines and lianas as well as impressive trees such as. Tetrameles nudiflora - a gigantic tropical tree with mighty board roots.
Important: The Blue Pool remains open every year during the rainy season between Closed in May and October, to protect the endangered bird species Golden-throated pitta in their breeding season - they only live sporadically in some rainforest regions of Southeast Asia. In the remaining months, the Blue Pool is open daily from 10:00 - 15:30 open.

They have formed over the years through the interaction of hot spring water, minerals and limestone and are now one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region. Hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to this place every year - especially in the high season it can get very crowded.
