Prices in Thailand

One Can of cola (325ml) costs between 10 and 20 baht (25~50 cents) in the supermarket. In restaurants, cafés or bars, the price is significantly higher, especially in tourist areas or locations close to the beach. Here, a cola costs between 30 and 50 baht (0.76 ~ 1.27 €).

Tip:: In the rear warehouses of the SuperCheap markets, you can get large quantities at low prices - just go through, even if it doesn't look like a customer area at first. So if you're planning a longer stay in Thailand, it's worth shopping in bulk at SuperCheap.

A small Singha, Leo or Chang beer (0,33l) costs between 30 and 60 baht (0.76 ~ 1.52 €) in the supermarket. In restaurants, cafés or bars, the price is significantly higher, especially in touristy places or locations close to the beach. A large beer (0.66l) costs between 50 and 60 baht (1.27 ~ 1.52 €) in the mini markets. The only Asian brand that is slightly more expensive than the other beer brands is Tiger. The beer originally comes from Singapore and is imported to Thailand, which is why it is a little more expensive to buy. We personally liked Tiger the best, which is why we accepted the price.

Alcohol prices in restaurants and bars rise significantly. You will have to budget between 60 and 80 baht (1.52 ~ 2.03 €) for a small beer. A large beer costs upwards of 100 baht (€2.54).

Tip:: In Thailand, you can visit between 14:00-17:00 and between 0:00-11:00. no alcohol buy. There are also Buddhist Holidays such as Visakha Bucha are prohibited from selling or buying alcohol all day.

Food can be found almost everywhere in Thailand. Whether in convenience stores, at street food markets, at small motorcycle street stalls, in restaurants or on the beach - Thailand is synonymous with delicious food and it really is everywhere! Of course, the cost depends greatly on the place and type of food you prefer.

If you're looking for a simple snack between meals, then you can find one at the 7Eleven buy a ready-made sandwich, burger or instant noodles for an average of 30 baht (76 cents) and heat them directly in the store in the microwave or boil hot water for your noodle soup.

In Restaurants a typical meal costs between 80 and 120 baht (2-3 €), but can also be considerably more expensive, depending on the exclusivity or location of the venue.

On Street food or night markets (so-called cookshops) you can really get everything your heart desires for a small price. Many dishes here cost between 40 and 60 baht (1.00 ~ 1.50 €). The friendliness and warm-heartedness of the Thais are another plus point and a real local experience in addition to the culinary note.

The costs of a Restaurant visit in Thailand are highly dependent on the location, type and exclusivity of the establishment. In a simple restaurant in the middle of Bangkok, you can enjoy a portion of Pad Thai for as little as 60 baht (around €1.50). At the food stalls you pay even less, often only 40 or 50 baht (1.02 ~ 1.27 €). In tourist areas, however, restaurant prices rise to between 150 and 200 baht per portion, which is the equivalent of between 3.80 ~ 5.00 € per meal. Especially restaurants at a popular excursion destination such as a viewpoint or beach restaurants are particularly expensive in Thailand.

In Thailand Massages compared to Germany super cheap. The costs vary depending on the location, reputation and quality of the salon. You can get a 60-minute traditional Thai massage in a tourist area right on the beach for as little as 300 baht (€7.60). Simple salons in the city charge between 350 and 400 baht (9~10 €) for the same massage. Upscale salons and certified wellness spas charge upwards of 500 baht (€12.70) for a one-hour massage.

The procedure is almost always the same. At the beginning, the feet are washed in a tub of warm water or cleaned with a damp towel. You can keep your underpants on and a towel covers all intimate areas during the massage. For a full body massage, you first lie on your stomach and then turn onto your back after half an hour. Thai masseurs and masseuses generally pay a lot of attention to hygiene and ensuring that the customer is comfortable. Therefore, a cup of tea is often served after the massage and only then is it time to collect the money.

Tip:: Probably the best massage we have ever had was a 90-minute Hot stone massage at the "Zense Spa", in the middle of the tourist district of Chaweng Beach on Koh Samui. The staff are super friendly and very professional. The special feature here is the massage with water-heated hot stones, which glide over the skin after the oil massage and have a really super relaxing effect. As this massage is more complex and lasts 90 minutes, the price was 1000 baht per person (€25.40). We still recommend it, a real highlight!

At the airport, you can buy a Thai SIM card with unlimited data volume to travel around the country in comfort. These are usually available for 8, 15 or 30 days. For 2 weeks you pay an average of 600 baht (approx. 15 euros).

Tip: If your smartphone has an eSIM function, we recommend Airaloª or Yesim eSIMª. With these apps, you can easily surf the web without using a physical SIM card. Airalo is also available in many Asian countries and is therefore very practical for longer trips to Asia.

The petrol station network in Thailand is very well developed! There is a petrol station on almost every main road. The most common Thai providers are PTT, Bangchak and PT (PT G Energy). Even internationally renowned brands such as Shell and Esso are widespread throughout the country. PTT was our favorite, as the facilities are very well developed and usually offer a café, restaurants, mini stores and clean, free toilets. in Thailand you can fill up with a wide variety of fuel classes, from standard to premium.

• Gasohol 95: ฿ 31,85 / Liter
  Most commonly used gasoline type in Thailand, is usually blended with ethanol (approx. 10%) and suitable for most modern vehicles.
• Gasohol 91: ฿ 31,48 / Liter
  Cheaper alternative with ethanol blend, widely used throughout the country and available almost everywhere.
• Gasohol E20: ฿ 29,64 / Liter
  Higher ethanol content (20%), often somewhat cheaper. Offered at many stations such as PTT and Bangchak.
• Premium gasoline 95: ฿ 40,14 / Liter
  Performance-oriented, unleaded fuel without added ethanol. Usually offered by international brands (e.g. Shell V-Power).
• Diesel B7: ฿ 30,94 / Liter
  Standard diesel with biodiesel content (~7%) - the most common grade for cars with diesel engines.

The above prices are average values (as of 2025) and can fluctuate depending on the region, provider and course of the day. Prices can often be higher in busy tourist areas or on highways. You can find a live query of the gasoline prices here.

IMPORTANTIn rural areas or smaller villages you will often see signs with the inscription "Gasohol 91", where the gasoline is sold cheaply in 1 liter bottles. However, we advise against this, as the mixtures are not traceable and have certainly been mixed in, which can cause lasting damage to your engine (both scooter and car).

Yes, many things can be paid for conveniently with a credit card in Thailand, but you should still have some cash with you. Most hotels, restaurants and stores accept VISA and Mastercard. However, it is important to note that only cash is generally accepted in rural areas and at markets. It is therefore best to carry both with you.

Tip: The cheapest way to get cash is to withdraw money locally from an ATM using a credit card. But be careful! Use a card that does not charge any additional fees. We recommend the awa7 Visa or the TF Mastercard Goldas these credit cards do not charge an annual fee and you can pay and withdraw money worldwide free of charge. There are also no foreign currency fees. If you use these credit cards, you only have to pay the fees from the ATM itself. We have tried many ATMs from different banks throughout Thailand and they all charge a fee of 220 baht. In plain language, this means that withdrawing money in Thailand costs around 5.70 euros.
