Excursions in Mae Hong Son

The province and town of the same name, Mae Hong Son, has just 6,000 inhabitants. Many travelers plan a stopover here while driving the 600 km Mae Hong Son Loop. In the center of the idyllic small town is a small lake (Chong Kham) and the two temples Wat Chong Kham and Wat Chong Klang. The locals are always happy to welcome visitors, even if they hardly speak any English. You can also experience the "real" Thai culture at the local markets, away from mass tourism and at very reasonable prices. If you are in the region in November, we definitely recommend a visit to the Thung Bua Tong Fields - a sea of yellow Mexican sunflowers that only bloom this month! You can also find all the activities around Mae Hong Son on GetYourGuideª, Viatorª or Klookª.
