Grand Pagoda Twin Pagodas
The two twin pagodas Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon & Grand Pagoda Nabhapolbhumisiri are among the most famous sights in the Doi Inthanon National Park. The two magnificent stupas were built in honor of the Thai royal couple King Rama IX and Queen Sirikit and are enthroned on one of the highest points in the entire country. They are surrounded by a fascinating mountain landscape and colorful, elaborate flower gardens that bloom all year round. The atmosphere here is particularly magical in the early hours of the morning, when the mist settles over the mountains!

Arrival
The Grand Pagodas in Doi Inthanon National Park are easily accessible by car or scooter. They are located directly on the main road, not far from the highest point in Thailand. Please note that there is an entrance fee to the national park. Tickets can be purchased on site at the park ticket counter after CheckPoint 1. Tickets will be checked as you pass through. The driveway from CheckPoint 2 up to the pagodas is open from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm. The parking lot directly at the pagodas is currently closed, so you have to drive a little further up the road, where there are signposted parking spaces available. From there, a chargeable shuttle service ("Shuttle to Pagoda") will take you to the pagodas. Alternatively, well-maintained paths and an elevator lead up from the lower parking lot.
Overnight stay
There is no accommodation in the immediate vicinity of the twin pagodas. However, along the road through Doi Inthanon National Park you will find several simple resorts, homestays or campsites - you can book these online in advance. If you prefer something more comfortable, you can also stay in Chiang Mai or Chom Thong stay overnight and visit the pagodas as part of a day trip.
Guided tours
Many providers offer guided tours via GetYourGuideª or Klookª, which in addition to the pagodas also offers other highlights such as the Wachirathan waterfall and cover the highest point of Thailand - perfect for a relaxed and well-organized exploration tour.
