Choui Fong tea plantation
The tea plantation Choui Fong is located in the north of Thailand, just under an hour's drive from Chiang Rai. This picture-book location is a popular destination for all Nature and tea lovers and should not be missed on any tour of Northern Thailand! Due to the Altitude the fields in the north are ideal for growing various types of tea such as green and black tea. With a cultivation area of over 1,000 rai (= 1.6 square kilometers), Choui Fong Tea Co. largest tea producers in Thailand.

The plantation was founded in 1977 by a local entrepreneurial family who recognized the high altitude as a potential for the production of high-quality teas. Starting out as a small agricultural project, Choui Fong developed over time into a renowned producer of Green tea, oolong tea and black tea. The teas have become increasingly popular, not only with locals but also with travelers. Every year, several hundred thousand visitors come to the popular region to see the tea fields in the flesh and enjoy the delicious teas on site.

Today, the village is a popular destination for excursions to explore the vast tea fields and the Origin of the tea to explore, Tea specialties on site to enjoy, Souvenirs shopping or one of the many Photo spots on the estate. In the middle of the tea plantations, the in-house Choui Fong Café freshly prepared tea, cakes or ice cream and a fantastic view of the green tea fields! If you don't like tea, you can also order other dishes such as salads, rice dishes or pasta. The Choui Fong tea can be bought directly on site (usually packaged in pretty gift tins) - perfect for an authentic gift from the north of Thailand!

There are currently no guided tours of the tea plantations, but it is worth taking the Explore the area by car and enjoy the idyllic tea bushes! If you don't have a rental car, you can also take a Day tour from Chiang Rai book (e.g. via the platform GetYourGuideª) - many tour operators already plan a stop at the famous tea plantation as a compulsory program in addition to the famous temples in Chiang Rai, as the landscape is really unique and beautiful!
