Similar to rice terraces, the tea is grown in steps to make the most of the sloping terrain
Such terraces are particularly important during the monsoon season, as the water is drained away and the soil does not wash away.
There are plenty of parking bays and benches on the grounds to enjoy the view
The in-house café offers tea specialties and various dishes

Choui Fong tea plantation
The tea plantation Choui Fong is located in the north of Thailand, just under an hour's drive from Chiang Rai. This picture-book location is a popular destination for all Nature and tea lovers and should not be missed on any tour of Northern Thailand! Due to the Altitude the fields in the north are ideal for growing various types of tea such as green and black tea. With a cultivation area of over 1,000 rai (= 1.6 square kilometers), Choui Fong Tea Co. largest tea producers in Thailand.
The plantation was founded in 1977 by a local entrepreneurial family who recognized the high altitude as a potential for the production of high-quality teas. Starting out as a small agricultural project, Choui Fong developed over time into a renowned producer of Green tea, oolong tea and black tea. The teas have become increasingly popular, not only with locals but also with travelers. Every year, several hundred thousand visitors come to the popular region to see the tea fields in the flesh and enjoy the delicious teas on site.
Today, the village is a popular destination for excursions to explore the vast tea fields and the Origin of the tea to explore, Tea specialties on site to enjoy, Souvenirs shopping or one of the many Photo spots on the estate. In the middle of the tea plantations, the in-house Choui Fong Café freshly prepared tea, cakes or ice cream and a fantastic view of the green tea fields! If you don't like tea, you can also order other dishes such as salads, rice dishes or pasta. The Choui Fong tea can be bought directly on site (usually packaged in pretty gift tins) - perfect for an authentic gift from the north of Thailand!
There are currently no guided tours of the tea plantations, but it is worth taking the Explore the area by car and enjoy the idyllic tea bushes! If you don't have a rental car, you can also take a Day tour from Chiang Rai book (e.g. via the platform GetYourGuideª) - many tour operators already plan a stop at the famous tea plantation as a compulsory program in addition to the famous temples in Chiang Rai, as the landscape is really unique and beautiful!

Black House
The Baan Dam Museum, better known as the Black House, is another art project in the northern Thai city of Chiang Rai. Contrary to expectations, this is not just a single house, but a huge complex with more than 40 individual buildings and some very bizarre exhibits. The exterior façade of the houses is uniformly kept in a dark color scheme (predominantly black and dark brown), which gave rise to the nickname "Black House".
Wat Huay Pla Kang
Mistakenly known as the „Big Buddha of Chiang Rai“, Wat Huay Pla Kang embodies a giant statue of Guan Yin - the Chinese goddess of mercy; and is therefore not an image of Buddha. Behind the walk-in statue is a unique building concept of a temple that combines spirituality, purity and aesthetics. The temple is located about 8 kilometers outside the city center in a rural area. The respected monk Phra Ajarn Phob Chok had the impressive building erected on a hill in 2005. The 69-metre statue of Guan Yin (in Thai: „Chao Mae Kuan Im“) is easily recognizable in many places in and around Chiang Rai.

Blue Temple
The Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten) is one of the most visited temples in northern Thailand. Its unique design with a bright blue exterior façade and golden decorations attracts over a million visitors every year. In Thai culture, the colors stand for purity, wisdom and the divine. The murals inside also shine in magnificent shades of blue and purple. The highlight of the Blue Temple is the large seated Buddha in the main temple hall (Viharn), whose posture symbolizes the moment of enlightenment, inner peace and harmony.
