Lumphini Park
At over 570,000 square meters, Lumphini Park is the largest park in the center of Bangkok. There are seven park entrances, known as gates, from different directions. The southwest entrance is adorned with a monument to King Rama VI, who created the site in the 1920s as the first public city park.
The huge area is home to numerous facilities and stations, including:
- a large artificial lake on which you Pedal boat ride can
- numerous Benches and Pavilions to rest
- Public toilets on every corner
- Children's playgrounds
- a public Concert stage
- one Library
- a sports facility with free fitness equipment
- a 2.5 km long Jogging and cycling route
- a Muay Thai Boxing Stadium
Another exciting activity & very typical for Thailand are the outdoor sports courses e.g. Tai Chi, Martial Arts or Yoga - You can take part in these free of charge.

Our absolute highlight was the countless Banded monitor lizards! They can be found everywhere in Lumphini Park. They are often resting on the grass or swimming a few laps in the lake. Even though some monitor lizards are over 2 meters long, these graceful creatures do not harm humans. They want to relax just as much as we do!
Tip:: If you are planning a bike tour, we recommend that you first make a stop at the nearby Benjakitti Park. There you can buy a cheap Rent a bikeª and then combine both parks.
