Sairee Beach

Sairee Beach is the most famous and, at 1.7 km, the longest beach on Koh Tao's west coast. Along the promenade is the tourist center of the island with a Walking Street full of stores, pubs and restaurants. It can get loud and hectic here, especially in the evening. During the day, the town offers the perfect beach day: Long walks through the white sand, shady palm trees and crystal-clear water create a relaxed atmosphere. There are also a few restaurants and beach bars on the beach, where things liven up again towards evening. To the south, Sairee Beach borders Mae Haad, the island's main town and ferry station. In the far north is the pretty Koh Tao Cabana Resortª with individual bungalows and beach villas whose style blends harmoniously into the overall picture.

TipSairee Beach is an anchor point for many cab boats that take you comfortably around the entire island - ideal for snorkeling trips to hidden bays that are difficult to access by land! You can also take a trip from here to Koh Nang Yuan a beautiful group of islands in the northeast of Koh Tao. Simply speak to one of the boat guides and negotiate a good daily price (from 300 THB upwards, depending on how many stops you plan).

Koh Nang Yuan 1 | Places of interest on Koh Tao
Koh Nang Yuan
To the north of Koh Tao is a small group of islands connected by a sandbank. Koh Nang Yuan is a must-visit for all travelers and is a real postcard motif! Pure nature, mountainous terrain and crystal-clear water. You can only get to this place by boat - either by cab boat (from Sairee Beach, approx. 300 THB p.p. return) or on a guided day tour, e.g. from Koh Phanganª or Koh Samuiª. As the island is a nature reserve, an entrance fee of 250 THB per person is payable. After arrival, you have time to explore the area, climb up the viewpoint (spoiler: the view is worth it!) or relax on one of the two beaches and snorkel at the popular dive site "Japanese Garden"! The boat will bring you back safely in the evening.
John Suwan Viewpoint 17b | Places of interest on Koh Tao
John-Suwan Viewpoint
The John Suwan Viewpoint is a phenomenal vantage point in the south of Koh Tao. From here you have a fantastic view over Freedom Beach and Shark Bay! This place is an absolute must-see if you are only on the island for a few days. The "hike" is more like scaling and climbing large rocks that block your way to the top. It is therefore challenging on the right, but also quite adventurous and fun. In between, you can pull yourself up using auxiliary ropes that the Thais have deliberately set up there. As well as being physically fit, you should definitely wear sturdy shoes. In high temperatures, it can also get hot and exhausting very quickly, which is why you should pack plenty of water. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a fascinating view! Besides Koh Nang Yuan, this is definitely the most beautiful photo spot on Koh Tao!
