The lagoon is under Nature conservation. There are no buildings or facilities directly on the water. Sanitary facilities are only located at the pier of Maya Bay or at the feeder points on Koh Phi Phi Don or Phuket. Swimming and snorkeling is allowed in the lagoon (often the boats have own equipment for hire), although the number of boats is now being regulated, in order not to „overcrowd“ the bay and protect the sensitive underwater world. Those who visit the early morning or late afternoon often experience a quieter atmosphere than at peak times around lunchtime. With a bit of luck, you may see colorful schooling fish such as the yellow Sergeant Major even Sea turtles in their natural environment!
