Journey to Ayutthaya


Ayutthaya is located around 80 km north of Bangkok and does not have its own airport. The quickest way to get there is via the highway from Bangkok. You can reach the ancient city either as part of a day tour including transfer, by rental car or by cab. A cab ride from Bangkok costs between 1,200-1,800 baht and takes one to one and a half hours, depending on traffic. Budget travelers can also choose the bus for only 80-150 baht (from Mo Chit) or take the train for 20-350 baht (from Hua Lamphong, Krung Thep Aphiwat (Bang Sue) or Don Mueang Airport). The train journey takes around 45-80 minutes. Ticket prices vary depending on train class and comfort - for example, there are compartments with or without air conditioning.
