Koh Ma
The Koh Ma peninsula is located in the north of Koh Phangan. It is connected to Mae Haad Beach by a strip of sand and can only be accessed at low tide. So be sure to pay attention to the tides if you plan to visit this place. There is not much to see on the island itself, but there is beautiful nature and plenty of shady spots. It's also worth taking snorkeling equipment with you. You can discover lots of colorful fish and coral reefs in the crystal-clear water! The peninsula is particularly popular in the evening at sunset.

Night Market Cafe 'Vintage
On the way south towards Haad Rin, you will definitely pass the pretty night market "Night Market Cafe 'Vintage". With its cosy interior, colorful decorations and warm lights, we immediately fell in love with this place! You won't find any clothes or souvenirs here, but you will find plenty of street food and charming live music. In addition to local Thai cuisine, Italian, German and Korean dishes are also on offer. Here you can relax at the end of the day with a cool Singha beer and try some delicious snacks!
Haad Rin Beach
At the southern tip of the island is Haad Rin Beach, which has two beaches to offer: Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise Beach) and Haad Rin Nai (Sunset Beach). The famous Full Moon Party takes place every month on Sunrise Beach. But it is also worth making a stop away from the party night. In the small streets you will find many shopping opportunities for souvenirs or clothing. On the beach there are numerous restaurants, beach bars and some water sports activities such as jet skiing. The beaches are generally very well maintained, clean and quiet during the day.
Hin Kong sandbank
Hin Kong is located in the north-west of the island and is not very appealing at first glance. Only at low tide does this beach become a real highlight. As soon as the water recedes, a long walkable sandbank remains, where you can take a romantic stroll into the sunset. Dog owners also enjoy walking their dogs on the beach here. Locals, on the other hand, take the opportunity to collect a few mussels and crabs on the spot. There are several restaurants and beach bars on the shore with a perfect view of the sea.
Thong Nai Pan Beach
Thong Nai Pan Beach consists of two sister bays and is located on the east coast of Koh Phangan. The southern Pan Yai Beach is one of our favorite beaches on the island! Shallow water, fine long sandy beach and turquoise shallow sea. The place is far away from the hustle and bustle of the city and also offers a few beach bars and shady spots. You can go swimming, kayaking or jet skiing on site. The upper bay of Pan Noi is a little livelier, especially in high season. However, both places have their very own charm. If you prefer things a little quieter, the southern bay is the place for you. Tip: the nearby 2C Bar offers a super nice view of both beaches!
Haad Sadet Beach
Haad Sadet Beach is the perfect place for those who love peace and nature. The path to the beach leads through the Than Sadet National Park, which is why a maintenance fee of 100 baht per person must be paid. The bay is very idyllic and offers a dreamlike setting with large rocks, fine sand and turquoise water. Here you can relax during the day, swim, snorkel or spontaneously explore the national park. You might even come across the island's pigs, which roam peacefully in the forest or on the beach. There is also a small restaurant on site with delicious Thai food.
Saturday Walking Street Market
As the name suggests, the Saturday Walking Street Market always takes place on Saturdays in Thong Sala. In the center of Koh Phangan you will find numerous stores, restaurants and the largest supermarkets on the island. There is always something going on here, especially on Saturday evenings when Walking Street reopens. From 5 pm to 10 pm, you can discover lots of handmade souvenirs, boho-style clothes and delicious street food! There are often local acts and live music to round off the whole event. Most visitors come by scooter, which makes it a bit chaotic on the streets, but it's worth a stop if you're in the area. Entry & parking is free.
Bottle Beach Viewpoint
Probably the most beautiful viewpoint on the island is located next to the beach of the same name, Bottle Beach. We recommend arriving by scooter. You can park it at the bottom of the path and hike up on foot. It takes about 20 minutes through forests and rocky terrain. At the top, you will reach a viewpoint consisting of gigantic rocks. It takes some courage and climbing skills to climb to the top, but the view is worth it! From here you have a fantastic view over the north coast of Koh Phangan.
Bottle Beach
Bottle Beach is a beautiful secluded beach in the north of Koh Phangan. You can reach it either by cab boat, after a 30-minute hike or by shuttle for 200 baht per person one way. The path is challenging, but doable. Once at the bottom, you will find a few restaurants and accommodation. The entire stretch of beach is very clean and quiet, but rocky in places, which is why water shoes are recommended. Tip: If you are in this area, you should definitely plan a visit to Bottle Beach Viewpoint beforehand!
2C Bar
The 2C Bar is located on the east coast of Koh Phangan - from here you have a wonderful view of the two bays Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai! The menu includes delicious smoothies, snacks, healthy salads and cocktails, which you can enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere with a panoramic view of the sea. Entry to the bar is free. Food and drinks cost around 200-300 THB per person. We were particularly fascinated by the view of the mountains, as this once again makes it clear how beautiful the landscape on Koh Phangan really is! Unfortunately, many mountainous regions are not accessible by scooter as there are only a few roads on the island, but you can still enjoy the view from this place!
Zen Beach
Zen Beach is very popular with locals and expats alike! It is located somewhat secluded in the northwest of Koh Phangan and is best reached by scooter. During the day, the white sandy beach is the perfect place to relax and swim, while in the evening it gets really lively and attracts many people who enjoy the sunset together and dance exuberantly in the sand. There are a few bars, seating areas and shady spots on site.
Hide on High Bar
The "Hide on High" bar is a hidden gem in Than Sadet National Park in the east of Koh Phangan. The climb up is not easy, especially with the scooter it was a real adventure ride, but it really pays off in the end! Once at the top, you meet a friendly Thai man who lives on the upper floor of the bar and prepares delicious cocktails and snicker smoothies for you. Entry is free, but out of courtesy you should at least order a drink (the average cost is around 100-200 THB per person). You can then enjoy the sunset while listening to cozy ragga music and just let your mind wander!
